Outside Plant Copper
Splicing
This course will teach
students how to splice using either the 3M MS2 copper splicing unit or
the 700 Series copper splicing unit. This will include installing
underground/buried closures, above ground closures/pedestals and fire
retardant closures. Emphasis will be placed on splice arrangement, use of
hardware with various splice cases and splicing technology for a minimum
of Category 3 performance and a maximum of Category 5 performance in
outside plant.
This is a three-day course
and includes all consumables.

Optical Fiber Connectorization and Splicing
This four (4)
day course is designed to acquaint the optical fiber technician with the
methods and procedures required to terminate, splice, and test OSP
optical fiber. The course is broken down into the following sections:
- Safety utilizing both the NEC and the
NESC
- Optical fiber theory. The principals of internal
reflection, refraction, angle of acceptance, attenuation, and
dispersion.
- Terminations - Methods and
procedures for terminating the ST, SC, and LC anaerobic connectors.
- Splicing - Methods and procedures for a
mid-sheath splice requiring a mid tube entry
- Testing and Troubleshooting Testing
of the optical fiber connectors using the interferometer to test
each connector.
- Testing
of the passive link using the visual fault locator (VFL), the
optical loss test set OLTS), and the optical time domain
reflectometer (OTDR)
Price - $1,250.00
